The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) Scottish Society has organised a free event on Saturday 19th November at 2pm in the Holiday Inn, Glasgow City Centre, Theatreland, West Nile Street, Glasgow G1 2RL.
CIoL are delighted to welcome Dr. Katerina Strani-Jefferson, Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies (LINCS) at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Her presentation is entitled Multilingual Democracies: how does it work?
Katarina will focus on theoretical explorations of multilingualism in argumentation and in the construction of politics. We hope the presentation will stimulate a debate on how multilingualism is affecting contemporary societies at a socio-political level.
