The Language Hub have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help them hold a street party on 12th June in support of the Eden Project’s Big Lunch initiative.
The hub operates as a not-for-profit community interest company in the west end of Glasgow where they offer an English and foreign language children’s bookshop and language centre for everyone.
The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours for a few hours of community, friendship and fun. Since The Big Lunch started in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all kinds of communities—from street parties to community picnics, with millions of people taking part each year.
The organisers at the Language Hub event aim to bring residents and local businesses and their employees together so they can get to know each other better. This is a great way to communicate and connect with those we see regularly but do not know personally. The Language Hub has teamed up with their local housing association to help promote the event.
Anyone who wants to join in should bring a lunch with them but the Language Hub will be offering a basic buffet and at least one free hot drink to anyone who comes along to make sure everyone is included and fed.
The event will be held outside the Language Hub’s shop at 52 Keith Court, Glasgow, G11 6QW between 2pm and 4pm.
Anyone who would like to support the Language Hub’s crowdfunder can do so here.
