CISS Teacher Immersion Course – Shanghai

Are you:

  1. Involved in the development of Mandarin within your school/cluster as part of the overall LA strategy for Mandarin?
  2. Keen to support the development of Mandarin in your school?
  3. A primary school teacher or a high school modern languages teacher?
  4. A mentor of a Hanban teacher, volunteer or a British Council Chinese Language Assistant?

If the answer is yes, then the Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools is organising a two week immersion course in Shanghai. This course follows the success of four prior teacher immersion courses in Tianjin and Beijing.


Based at Shanghai East Normal University, you will spend 2 weeks learning about Chinese language and culture.

There will be a strong focus on language, however, the course also includes cultural lessons, for example, tai chi, calligraphy, Chinese tea-making and paper cutting.

There will be a range of cultural excursions to places of interest. A number of days will also be spent in Quzhou, Zhejiang province.

Upon completion of the course, participants are awarded a certificate.

Costs

The programme will be very generously funded with costs met for the language tuition, accommodation and meals and organised visits during the two weeks. Participants are asked to pay:

  1. Visa (£151)
  2. Contribution towards accommodation costs £140
  3. International return flights (dependent on the time of booking)
  4. Travel insurance
